The FIDREON Trust Score
A published, versioned, reproducible score over verified agent transactions. The point of publishing the algorithm is that a score nobody can inspect never gets cited. This one can be recomputed by anyone from the public registry.
What goes in
Only registry-verified facts: receipts the registry accepted with a verified ed25519 seller signature, registered sellers and principals, published revocations, and signed vouches from registered agents.
Never inputs: self reported volume, unverified receipts, unregistered agents, any payment rail secret, any personal data.
The five factors
| Factor | Range | Formula | Why it exists |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transaction activity | 0 to 200 | min(tx,200)/200*200, each receipt decayed by exp(-age_days/180) | Activity alone is the weakest signal, so it caps at 200. |
| Counterparty breadth | 0 to 300 | min(unique_counterparties,20)/20*300 | The real network signal. One repeat customer is not a reputation. Twenty distinct counterparties is. |
| Verified volume | 0 to 300 | min(log10(1+usd)/log10(10001),1)*300 | Log scale, capped at 10k USD, so a whale cannot buy a score with one large payment. |
| Vouch weight | 0 to 150 | min(sum(weights),10)*15 | Agent to agent vouching is the N by N edge. It is discounted, never trusted outright. |
| Revocation penalty | -100 to 0 | -min(revocations,5)*20 | Authority abuse must cost more than it gains. |
Confidence, and why it exists
confidence = min(1, sqrt(unique_counterparties)/4) * min(1, transactions/10)
Confidence stops a single transaction from reading as a strong reputation. A score of 750 or higher is only labelled institutional when confidence is at least 0.5. Below that it reads trusted (thin data), which is the honest label.
Decay
Activity decays with a 180 day half life. A reputation that stopped being maintained stops being a reputation. The graph rewards live participants, not historic ones.
Tiers
| Score | Tier | How a seller should treat it |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 49 | unrated | Require a principal challenge. Manual review above a token spend cap. |
| 50 to 199 | emerging | Accept with a low spend cap and a live challenge. |
| 200 to 449 | established | Accept within the published cap, no manual step. |
| 450 to 749 | trusted | Accept with raised limits. Eligible for reputation priced access. |
| 750 to 1000 | institutional | Highest limits. Requires confidence of at least 0.5, or the label degrades to trusted (thin data). |
Vouching: the agent to agent edge
A vouch is a signed statement by one registered agent that another is legitimate for a named scope. It is the only factor that adds an edge between two agents rather than an observation about one. A vouch counts at full weight only when the voucher's own score is 100 or higher. Below that it counts at 0.25. Maximum total vouch weight is 10. Signatures verify against the voucher's registered public key, never a self declared one.

Self vouching is rejected. Unregistered voucher keys are rejected. An unverifiable vouch is never accepted into the scored registry.

Change control
Any weight change increments the version. Scores are never silently recalculated under a published version. Every response carries spec_version and an inputs_hash so a third party can confirm they scored the same inputs the registry did.
